The Williams Family is more than Country music royalty. The family is bigger than that, and is part of the conversation about the whole of music history. The impact (especially) of Hank Williams, Sr. on the world of music is interminable, and in him, the music was just getting started. But as with most legendary figures and/or families, heartache is nonnegotiable.
Hank Williams, Sr. died on the first day of the year in 1953. He was 29 years old.
His son, Hank Jr., was 8 years old at the time of his death and his mother gave him little or no choice as to his life’s direction. He nearly met his maker when he fell from a mountain in 1975.
Hank Jr.’s daughters Holly and Hilary experienced a near-fatal car accident in March 2006. The following is a WKRN-TV interview about the sister’s accident.
Prior to her 2006 accident, Holly wrote a song called “Between Your Lines,” from her album The Ones We Never Knew. It is a powerful message to her father, and maybe even her grandfather.
So, why must you walk with burdens much too big for you to bear
When you know it’s not your fault
There are saints and sinners everywhere
You don’t have to smile, I can read between your lines
